When April's cat, Sheba had three new kittens, her father made it quite clear that theirs was a one cat apartment. She had to choose between Butch, Brenda and Charcoal and even the darling mother Sheba! April's dilemma and its final, supremely happy solution, make a story that all children will love.

The New York Times said of Mrs. Newberry's first book, "Mittens" that her illustrations were the very best cat pictures that have ever been made." Who could argue with that? They are the softest fluffiest most beautifully rendered kitties! At the back of the book is a duplicate of one of the loveliest pictures in the book, tipped in so that it can be removed for framing. It is still present and in perfect condition!
