Little Rock Arkansas: Parke-Harper Co., 1930. Inscription on front pastedown: "To Donald Brown with best Wishes Harry Lee Williams September 7th, 1963." 8vo. 9" x 6". Green pebbled cloth covered boards stamped in gold. 648 pp. A little light wear but overall a clean, sturdy and very good book. Bookplate of the previous owner, to whom the book was inscribed, is on the front pastedown endpaper. Item #1014
Not a lot of pictures but a lot of history in these pages.
I was puzzling over whether the signed inscription dated 1963 could really be by the author who published the book in 1930 and had already been founder and editor of the Jonesboro Tribune for 22 years, but if he started the Tribune at 20, published the book 22 years later he would have been 42 in 1930. Add 33 years to that and he would have been 85 in 1963. Also, the signature looks very much like the signature on his photo frontispiece. It is signed by the author.
