Mattie Sprunk is taking care of Miss Milo's house, keeping the place clean in case Charley Fender comes back. You see, many years ago, Miss Milo was to marry Charley Fender when, on the morning of the wedding, Charley Fender stepped into another dimension. No one ever saw him again, except for Miss Milo. A beautifully illustrated tale of love, hope, and longing, A Gift for Miss Milo is about a woman's lifelong wait for a disappeared lover. Told by a young girl who continues the vigil, the story of Miss Milo will delight readers of all ages.

Jan Wahl (1931 - 2019) is the author of over 90 books, having begun writing books with Maurice Sendak as illustrator in 1964. How the Children Stopped the Wars (1969) and Humphrey's Bear (1987) are two of his best known previous books. Since he was in the fifth grade, he collected old motion picture films. Of Miss Milo he has said, "It is my most personal statement, It asks, Isuppose, What is Real, What is Imagined, What is Dreamed?"
